Sherri Beattie

About Sherri

Sherri Beattie has a general practice covering wills and estates, real property, corporate and criminal law, and has argued cases before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal for Ontario. Her family roots run deep in the Ottawa Valley; she is a graduate of Renfrew Collegiate Institute. Before law, she worked as a broadcast journalist, including as a freelance producer for 'Pamela Wallin Live', a reporter for CTV News in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and a reporter and anchor for CKWS Television in Kingston. She holds a B.A. from Trinity College, University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), a Master of Journalism from Carleton University, and a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she received the Gordon Sinclair Fellowship and studied for a year at the Universite Stendhal in Grenoble, France. She articled at Torkin Manes LLP in Toronto and practised criminal law at Greenspan Partners before returning to the Ottawa Valley, and now also teaches media law at Carleton University's School of Journalism and Communications. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Renfrew County Legal Clinic and the Board of Trustees of the Renfrew Presbyterian Church, and is a former board member of the Renfrew County Law Association.
