Shawn Hatch has provided legal advice to pension and benefit plan clients in British Columbia since 1979, and established Hatch Law in 2012 after practising for ten years at Davis LLP. His practice covers establishing new pension and benefit plans, advising government and public utilities on transitioning to new governance models including target benefit formulas, acting as special mediator for collectively bargained benefit arrangements, and providing ongoing support to boards of trustees. His representative pension clients include a jointly trusteed multi-employer defined benefit plan with over 300,000 members, and his benefit clients include province-wide health and welfare plans in the health, education and construction sectors. He has also served as administrator of a multi-employer construction trade pension plan with around $1 billion in assets, one of the first in BC to convert to a target benefit plan. Shawn is a past chair of the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch's Pension and Benefits Subsection and is also a partner at Hatch & Galinski LLP.
