Sandy J. Kovacs has been a trial lawyer since 1992, practising litigation and alternative dispute resolution and seeking out-of-court settlements where appropriate. Over more than 30 years he has attended thousands of examinations for discovery and hundreds of mediations, court applications, trials, and appeals, appearing before the Provincial Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal of British Columbia as well as administrative tribunals including the Employment Standards Tribunal and Human Rights Tribunal. His practice has spanned family law, commercial litigation, estate litigation, class actions, employment law, First Nations treaty negotiations, professional negligence, personal injury, and administrative law matters. Sandy is accredited by the Law Society of British Columbia as a Family Law Mediator and represents parties in family law disputes as counsel or, where he has no prior involvement in the matter, as an impartial mediator. He earned his LLB from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law (1991) and a BSc from McGill University (1988), and was called to the British Columbia bar in 1992.
