About Russell
Russ practices planning and municipal law and has represented clients before the Ontario Municipal Board, the Assessment Review Board, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission, the Environmental Assessment Board, the Environmental Appeal Board, and the Niagara Escarpment Commission. His work often involves shopping centre development, official plans, zoning by-laws, and subdivision plans, and he appears regularly before committees of adjustment, planning committees, and municipal councils across Ontario. He also defends individuals and companies charged under municipal by-laws, the Building Code, and the Niagara Escarpment Planning Development Act. Called to the bar in 1986, he earned his law degree at Osgoode Hall and later completed a Masters in Environmental Studies at York University, focusing on urban planning. He has presented at seminars for the Law Society and the Canadian Bar Association's Municipal Law Section, where he previously served on the executive.
