About Robbie
Robbie Nissen is the owner of Nissen Patent Law and has served Alberta inventors for over a decade as a lawyer, registered patent agent, and registered trademark agent. His practice covers oil and gas technology, heavy industry, mechanical, software, process, nanotechnology, alternative energy, chemical, medical device, pharmaceutical, and consumer product matters, along with IP litigation; he was previously counsel in a Federal Court case addressing the deference owed to patent examiners' factual findings. Nissen holds a Bachelor of Science in Honours Chemistry from the University of Alberta, where he attended on a full athletic scholarship for track and field and represented Canada internationally, and won the gold medal in Chemistry. He is the current co-chair of the Business, Law and Technology Forum, past chair of the Canadian Bar Association's Intellectual Property North Section, past co-chair of the Edmonton Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society, a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, and a business coach at the Regional Business Accelerator in Lloydminster.
