About Richard

Richard Lindgren has been a staff lawyer at the Canadian Environmental Law Association since 1986. In that time he has appeared before tribunals and trial and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, representing individuals, public interest groups, and First Nations on matters spanning air and water pollution, environmental rights, environmental assessment, and administrative and constitutional law. As co-counsel for Walkerton residents at the Walkerton Inquiry, he and other CELA staff received Legal Aid Ontario's GEM Award for Outstanding Achievement, and he has served on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee on Class Action Reform along with provincial panels on the Environmental Bill of Rights and environmental assessment. He has co-edited the Canadian Environmental Law Reports since 1994 and teaches environmental law at Queen's Faculty of Law and Trent University. He holds a B.A. and an LL.B.
