About Richard

Richard Cooper has practised law for over 30 years, running his own firm since 1991 after beginning his career at a Bay Street law firm in Toronto. His transactional practice covers the purchase, sale, and financing of commercial and industrial properties, and he has prepared asset and share purchase agreements as acquisition counsel for local and national corporations. Cooper also maintains a broad commercial litigation practice, having appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Divisional Court, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Tax Court of Canada, and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, as well as at Fruit and Vegetable Dispute Resolution Corporation arbitrations. He is a member of both the Ontario and New York State Bars and has appeared in court in New York to assist clients with cross-border matters. Cooper earned his Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1989 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1991.
