About René

René Basque joined Actus Law Droit as a partner in 2007, after nearly 20 years of practice beforehand. A bilingual native of Tracadie-Sheila, he was admitted to the bar in 1989 and received his Queen's Counsel designation in 2013. His practice focuses on regulatory work, corporate litigation, outside corporate counsel, and employment law, and he has served as Public Intervener on behalf of the Attorney General of New Brunswick before the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board, including on Enbridge Gas New Brunswick's rate-setting hearing and the Point Lepreau refurbishment hearing. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (1980) and a Bachelor of Law (1988), both from the Université de Moncton, and is a past president of the Canadian Bar Association. Basque has received the CBA New Brunswick Branch's Pro Bono Award and the national Douglas Miller Award, and he chaired the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Moncton.
