About Philip
Philip R. White is a senior Toronto employment lawyer whose practice focuses exclusively on representing employers and employees in employment and labour law, including wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal, and workplace investigations. He was the successful lead lawyer in Waksdale v. Swegon North America, a 2020 Ontario Court of Appeal decision that voided the great majority of Ontario employment termination clauses then in use. Phil has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and the Human Rights Tribunal, representing employees and employers including senior executives and professionals. He is a practice advisor in employment law for LexisNexis Canada and has spoken at conferences held by the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Law Society of British Columbia, and Infonex. Before practising law, Phil worked in human resources and as a recruiter, and spent five years in account management for a manufacturing company.
