About Paul

Paul grew up on a farm near Melville, Saskatchewan, the child of parents who had served as Catholic missionaries before leaving the Church to raise a family. He joined the Canadian military reserves after grade 11 and went on to earn a business degree from the University of Regina and a law degree from the University of Victoria. He has practised law in the Okanagan since 1996, joining Bassett & Company in West Kelowna, and founded Hergott Law in 2007 after more than 11 years with that firm. His practice began in litigation, where he built an exclusive focus on pursuing fair compensation for injured victims; changes in British Columbia law in 2021, along with a desire to step back from litigation, led him to shift into wills and estates. He has been recognized by the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce for customer service, quality excellence and business person of the year, and has been a member of Okanagan Business Excellence since 1999. He also writes a weekly legal column on end-of-life matters published on Okanagan online news platforms.
