About Nicolas

Nicolas Rouleau practices appellate and constitutional law from Toronto, arguing criminal, civil and constitutional appeals before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, other provincial appellate courts and the Federal Court of Appeal. He was called to the bar in 2007 and, before starting his own practice, clerked for Justice Marie Deschamps at the Supreme Court of Canada. Other lawyers frequently retain him to prepare and argue appeals, leave applications to the Supreme Court of Canada, constitutional motions and judicial reviews. He served as Director of Research for the Long-Term Care Homes Public Inquiry in 2018 and 2019 and reviews potential Supreme Court cases for Pro Bono Law Ontario's Supreme Court Leave to Appeal Assistance Project. He holds a Master of the Science of Law from Stanford University and an LL.B. magna cum laude from the University of Ottawa's French Common Law Program, and has published on constitutional law and legal philosophy. He is fluently bilingual in French and English.
