About Neil
Neil McCartney was called to the Ontario bar in 2004 and practises criminal and regulatory litigation, arguing cases from murder trials down at every level of court in Ontario. He holds a B.A. (Hons.) and an LL.B. from Queen's University, plus an M.Phil from the University of Cambridge in the U.K. He articled at the Ottawa Crown Attorney's Office and has since contributed papers and presentations to continuing education programs run by the Criminal Lawyers' Association and the Law Society of Ontario. He teaches criminal law at Lakehead University's Bora Laskin Faculty of Law and has served as a director of the Thunder Bay Law Association, which recognized him in 2026 with its Service to the Profession award. He has also served on the boards of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, and currently sits on the board of Magnus Theatre.
