About Neil
Neil Brooks is a criminal defence trial lawyer serving Vancouver Island and British Columbia generally, a member of the Law Society of British Columbia who appears in Provincial Court and the Supreme Court of B.C. Before practising law, he worked in commercial fishing and later became First Officer of Navigation on a large cruise ship, experience he credits for the steady judgment he brings to criminal defence. His practice focuses on serious and contested charges, including Charter applications, impaired driving, drug offences, assault and domestic violence allegations, sexual offences, firearms offences, bail hearings, and sentencing and appeals. Brooks takes a limited number of files at a time, offers a free confidential initial consultation, and structures fees as a retainer plus defined stages rather than by the hour.
