About Nahal

Nahal grew up in Barrie and built an education there, earning an Honours Bachelor of Social Work with First Class Standing from Lakehead University's Orillia campus before completing a JD at Lakehead's Bora Laskin Faculty of Law. During those studies Nahal spent a summer with the Thunder Bay branch of LEAF, researching the effect of the Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act on Indigenous women in northern communities, and worked with the Newcomer Legal Clinic supporting Afghan refugees and LGBTQ2S+ clients with immigration matters. Nahal won the Canadian Bar Association's 2024 Elder Law Essay Contest for work applying queer theory to elder law and capacity tests. After articling at a well-known boutique litigation firm, Nahal joined Chapman Steffler shortly after being called to the Bar in June 2025. That practice covers wills and estates and family law.
