About Nadine S. Zacks

Nadine S. Zacks is a Toronto partner at Hicks Morley who acts for employers in the public and private sectors on labour and employment problems. That covers grievance arbitrations, wrongful dismissal claims, human rights and accommodation questions, and workplace safety. When a dispute heads to a hearing, Zacks argues it in front of arbitrators, tribunals, mediators and the courts.

After earning a J.D. with honours at the University of Toronto, Zacks was called to the Ontario bar in 2009, and the firm announced the move into its partnership in January 2019. Safety law is where the partner leads inside Hicks Morley. Zacks chairs the Occupational Health and Safety Practice Group and regularly helps employers answer, and defend against, orders and charges laid under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Speed and care both matter to Zacks, who aims to reply to clients thoughtfully and fast. The partner also tries to catch trouble early, drafting preventive policy updates and running training so a workplace is better protected later on. Recent talks to education audiences have covered violence in the classroom and free expression in public schools.

Outside work, the rink is a familiar place. Zacks figure skated as a kid, and these days it's two young children learning to skate and playing hockey, with family skates on a rink in the backyard.
