About Murdoch

Murdoch J. Carter leads a general practice firm in Sault Ste. Marie focused on family law (including Children's Aid matters), criminal defence, real estate, wills and estates, and general litigation. He earned an Honours B.A. from Queen's University in 1984 and a Law degree from Queen's in 1987, articling at the Toronto firm Houser, Henry, Loudon & Syron before being called to the bar at Osgoode Hall in 1989. He previously practised as a named partner at Willson, Carter Barristers & Solicitors before opening his own office. Carter is active locally: he served as President of the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie from 2003 to 2004, taught continuing-education law courses at Sault College, sat on the Ontario Legal Aid Plan's Area Committee from 1995 to 2010, and was President of the Algoma District Law Association from 2010 to 2012.
