About Michael

Michael A. Beckett is a criminal defence and trial lawyer serving Vancouver, Surrey, and British Columbia, with experience before the Provincial Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal. His clients have included youths, students, police officers, nurses, business people, doctors, lawyers, and others facing criminal charges, and he has also advised entrepreneurs in the medicinal marijuana and online gambling industries on regulatory compliance. He has represented clients before administrative tribunals, including the Mental Health Review Board of British Columbia, and has occasionally represented individuals facing charges in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Mr. Beckett obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia's Peter A. Allard School of Law, where he focused on criminal law and trial advocacy and was president of the UBC Criminal Law Club. Before law school, he studied business, English, and philosophy at the University of Calgary and graduated with honours. He is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia, the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society, and the BC branch of the Canadian Bar Association.
