Melodie Ureten completed her law degree at UBC's Allard Hall (JD, 2024) after earning a BBA from BCIT in 2020. Her articles at a full-service boutique firm in downtown Vancouver gave her experience in human rights, family law, criminal defence, immigration, residential tenancy, and civil litigation matters before the BC Supreme Court, Provincial Court, Federal Court, the BC Human Rights Tribunal, and the Residential Tenancy Branch. Her practice currently focuses on employment, labour, and family law, including desk-order divorces, child and spousal support, division of family property and debt, guardianship orders, and parenting arrangements. She has negotiated and drafted separation agreements and represented clients in BC Supreme Court and Provincial Court. Melodie is also active representing unions and not-for-profit societies, advising on governance, policy drafting, and operational matters. She is a member of the Law Society of BC and the Canadian Bar Association.
