About Melanie

Melanie Charbonneau is the owner and founder of MAC Legal, where she advises businesses on business, employment, and wills and estates matters. She has over a decade of experience guiding and building businesses for clients in Ottawa and across Ontario, and describes her focus as getting results rather than accumulating billable hours. Before founding MAC Legal, she spent a decade as a litigation advisor to the federal government, worked at one of Canada's largest law firms, and served as a judicial clerk at the Federal Court of Canada. She holds a Common Law J.D. and a Civil Law LL.L., both from the University of Ottawa, earned in 2013, along with a B.A. in law and political science from Carleton University. She's a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Association des juristes d'expression francaise de l'Ontario, and the County of Carleton Law Association.
