Lawrence L. Herman practises international trade and investment law through Herman & Associates in Toronto, advising private-sector clients, governments, and international agencies. His work covers trade agreements and negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, trade remedies such as anti-dumping and countervailing duty actions, economic sanctions and embargoes, preferential trade and investment agreements, and public and private international law. Earlier in his career he served as a Canadian diplomat, and he was later part of the Canadian legal team in the Gulf of Maine boundary case before the International Court of Justice. He writes and comments regularly on Canadian trade policy in outlets such as the Globe and Mail, Policy Magazine, and the C.D. Howe Institute.
