About Laura
Laura McCarthy is an impaired-driving defence lawyer in Halifax, admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in June 2013. Her science background is unusual for the work: a Dalhousie Bachelor of Science double-majoring in microbiology and immunology and in biochemistry and molecular biology, taken before the Juris Doctor at the Schulich School of Law, which she draws on when testing breath evidence, blood draws and Drug Recognition Expert reports. McCarthy has belonged to the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society since 2013.
