About Kay
Kay Melbye grew up in Victoria and earned her law degree from the University of Victoria. She was called to the BC bar in May 1999 and articled and practised civil litigation with Cook Roberts before joining Trudi Brown, K.C. and Jane Henderson, K.C. in 2001 to form Brown Henderson. She became a partner in January 2009 and worked mainly in family law, drawing on her civil litigation background. Kay is qualified as a family law arbitrator and mediator and is trained to prepare Hear the Child Reports; she's a founding member of the Victoria Collaborative Law Group. She's served as past president of the Victoria Bar Association and on the executive of the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association, with board roles at the Bridges for Women Society, the BC Hear the Child Society, and the Vancouver Island Children's Health Foundation. Kay has since retired after more than 25 years of practice.
