Katrina Wiegers is a family lawyer at McKenzie Lake Lawyers in London, Ontario, working across the whole of family law. That means helping parents work out parenting arrangements, running the numbers on how property gets divided, and putting domestic contracts in writing. Wiegers also handles files where family violence is an issue.

Wiegers makes a point of approaching each file with empathy and respect for the client's circumstances. Depending on the file, a resolution might come through negotiation, through mediation, or in court. Whichever route it takes, the goal is to help people sort out the problem so they can move on feeling confident and at peace. As Wiegers puts it, offering clients an exceptional service experience comes first.

Wiegers studied at Western Law and was called to the Ontario bar in 2024. Access to legal help has mattered from the start: Wiegers has given a great deal of time as a volunteer with community legal clinics, assisting underserved and equity-seeking people who needed support, and has gone into London high schools to do outreach and give legal education seminars.

Wiegers also writes for the firm's Insights & Articles series, with pieces on how a child's views and preferences are heard in a family case and on how the child support guidelines handle step-parents and income splitting. When there's time away from work, Wiegers likes hiking, cooking up new recipes, and spending time at home with two cats.
