About Julian

Julian Dobre is the founding lawyer of DOBRMAN, a boutique Calgary law firm serving new-economy clients including technology startups, software developers, content creators, influencers, e-commerce companies, and game developers. He earned a combined JD/MBA from the University of Calgary Law School and the Haskayne School of Business, specializing in entrepreneurship and innovation, and also holds a BA in sociology and economics from the University of Calgary. Before founding DOBRMAN, he articled and worked as a junior lawyer at a regional litigation firm in Alberta, and has also worked at the Alberta Securities Commission, the National Digital Asset Exchange, and Husky Energy. He co-founded Catapult Startups, a Calgary business incubator and accelerator, and Polity, a software platform for democratic elections. He was co-chair of the Technology and Intellectual Property Section of the Canadian Bar Association's Alberta South division, and his professional memberships include the Law Society of Alberta, the College of Patent and Trademark Agents, and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada. Prior to law, he was a performing musician in several Calgary rock bands and continues to play guitar and bass.
