About James

James Edward Lowry practises criminal defence in Winnipeg after an earlier career with the Toronto Police Service, where he worked in units including Homicide and the Fraud & Forgery Squad before finishing as a Detective/Sergeant and Senior Investigator in Internal Affairs. He was the lead affiant in a high-profile internal investigation that led to obstruction of justice and perjury convictions against five Drug Squad officers, and spent years as a designated breathalyzer technician handling more than a thousand impaired-driving cases. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, a Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, and a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School. Lowry handles matters including murder, assault, sexual assault, drug charges, home invasions, breach of trust, fraud, and theft, appearing in Winnipeg, Steinbach, and Beausejour as well as the greater Ottawa area, and is a member of the Criminal Defence Lawyers Association of Manitoba and the Law Society of Manitoba.
