About James

James Buchanan, known as Jim, previously worked in provincial offences enforcement, first as an officer with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources in Algonquin Provincial Park, then as a Transportation Enforcement Officer with the Ministry of Transportation, inspecting commercial vehicles and prosecuting Highway Traffic Act matters. He became a Provincial Training Instructor, developing curriculum used to train new MTO officers and other police services on commercial vehicle safety inspections. In 2020 he left the MTO to attend the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law in Thunder Bay, completed his law practice placement at a criminal defence firm, and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2023. He continued practicing criminal defence in Thunder Bay, focusing on provincial and regulatory offences including CVOR-related matters, before relocating to St. Thomas to serve southwestern Ontario, including the trucking industry.
