About James

James Bowden founded and heads the Toronto office of Afridi & Angell Professional Corporation, an Ontario-licensed entity affiliated with the Dubai firm Afridi & Angell. He is a transactional and corporate/commercial lawyer who trained and practised in Ontario before spending many years working with Afridi & Angell in Dubai. His practice centres on IT contracting, trusts, and estate planning, and he also advises on M&A, commercial contract negotiation, corporate structuring, and anti-money-laundering and anti-bribery compliance. Through the Toronto office he assists Canadian clients on private client and estate planning matters, including wills, family agreements, and international trust and foundation structures, as well as cross-border matters connecting Canada and the UAE. He is admitted as a barrister and solicitor with the Law Society of Ontario and is also registered as a legal consultant with Dubai's Legal Affairs Department.
