About J.

J. Peter McMahon has practiced civil and commercial litigation in Calgary for more than 40 years. He has appeared before all levels of court, including the Alberta Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, and has worked on precedent-setting cases such as Canada Southern Petroleum Ltd. v. Amoco Canada, Plas-Tex Canada Inc. v. Dow Chemical, Noram Construction v. Marigold Holdings, and Chiips Inc. v. Skyview Hotels. His practice spans commercial litigation, insurance law, employment law, personal injury and large commercial real estate transactions, and he has resolved many matters through mediation, arbitration and other dispute resolution processes. He graduated from Queen's University Law School in 1979 and was called to the bar in Ontario in 1981 and in Alberta in 1983. He is a member of the Calgary Winter Club and volunteers with Calgary Minor Hockey and other community charities.
