About J.

David earned a degree in economics in 1973 and a bachelor of laws in 1976, both from the University of Western Ontario. He started at the firm as an articling student in 1976, made partner in 1982 and served as managing partner from 1984 to 1992. Between 1978 and 1989 he taught a second-year law course at Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College and took part in seminars for business groups and financial institutions. During that period he also acted as a reviewer for the Law Society of Ontario, a role meant to assist counsel before disciplinary proceedings. His practice divides between commercial transactions and appearances before Canadian courts at every level to resolve commercial disputes, and he has served on the boards of several Canadian corporations, including as vice chairman of one internationally known public company.
