About Gwendolen Boyle

Gwendolen Boyle founded GC Boyle Law Firm and runs it today as director and counsel, setting its direction and guiding the team. Boyle's own work centres on estates, family law and advisory services, often for people whose matters are complicated and personal. Training in psychology is part of how Boyle works with them: in family files especially, the goal is helping clients settle, step back, breathe and see the whole picture, because Boyle wants to help them as people as much as with the law.

The road to St. Marys ran through Ottawa. At the University of Ottawa's law school, Boyle found an interest in education law and equality, backed the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund and the Indigenous Law Students' Association, and volunteered at the Pro Bono Help Centre in the Ottawa courthouse, helping people who couldn't afford a lawyer. A family law internship at Tremblay Law Office followed, with research, drafting and Superior Court filings, plus work on international adoption.

Through the Law Practice Program, Boyle then spent time at London Life as Assistant Manager of Global Compliance, researching compliance law across eight countries. On October 28, 2018, Boyle bought William J. Galloway's practice and opened it as GC Boyle Law Firm, keeping a similar general practice going.

Boyle has also put in a lot of time with children living with mental and physical disabilities. Gwendolen trains for marathons, loves time with family and pets, and has lately taken up motorcycling, with an eye to meeting people at rest stops and second-hand shops along the way.
