Graham Smith is a partner and General Counsel at Goodmans, and also heads the firm's Research Department. For 38 years, his litigation practice has centered on complex corporate, commercial, and insolvency-related matters, and he has appeared before courts and tribunals in Canada and the United States. His cases have spanned insurance and reinsurance disputes, financial institution insolvency, surety bonds, construction and contractual disputes, transfer pricing disputes, and corporate oppression actions, along with defamation claims, employment disputes, and real estate matters. He has extensive cross-border experience, including as counsel to liquidators of Canadian branches of U.S. insurers and of Canadian insurers with U.S. and U.K. branches. Graham is frequently consulted by colleagues on emerging legal issues and leads research and writing seminars for summer and articling students.
