Founder (Retired) at Bussey Ainsworth
Gary practised law for more than 40 years, opening this firm in Peterborough in 1988 after starting his career as corporate counsel for two large international financial institutions in Toronto. He graduated from Western University's law school in 1980. His practice became known for estate and succession planning, helping families plan how to protect and pass on what they had built. Gary served on the allied professional advisory council for the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation, taught for the Life Underwriters Association of Canada and the law clerk program at Sir Sandford Fleming College, and was a former trustee of the Peterborough County Board of Education and a former lawyer member of the Consent and Capacity Board of Ontario. He also served on the boards of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Junior Achievement, Good Neighbours Care Centre, and Rotary International. Barry Bussey took over the practice from Gary in May 2023.
