Associate at Avize Law Group
Emanuela Bocancea takes a trauma-informed, emotionally sensitive approach to representing clients at Avize, recognizing that her work asks people to disclose some of the hardest parts of their lives. She earned the YLaw Best Lawyering Award for her clinical work with Victoria's Law Centre during law school, then spent ten months clerking at the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench in Edmonton, assisting judges with trials, research, and drafting judgments in criminal, family, and civil matters. Before becoming a lawyer, she was an archaeologist, completing a PhD at Brown University and leading excavations at Petra in Jordan and sites in Greece, Romania, and Montserrat. She holds a JD from the University of Victoria, an MA in classical archaeology, and a BA from the University of Alberta, and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.
