Edward 'Eddie' Greenspan founded Greenspan Partners LLP and built a 44-year career as a sought-after defence counsel in major criminal trials across Canada and the United States, many of them closely followed by the media. He argued appeals in every provincial appellate court in Canada, as well as the Federal Court of Appeal, the Court Martial Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. Eddie was a lifelong champion of civil rights and fought against the death penalty in Canada. His honours include the Law Society Medal in 2013, The Advocates' Society Medal in 2009, and the G. Arthur Martin Medal in 2001, along with honourary doctorates from the Law Society of Upper Canada, the University of Windsor, Assumption University, and Brock University. He passed away in 2014, remembered as one of the leading figures of the Canadian criminal defence bar.
