Personal InjuryDouglas Sulman has practised law for over 35 years, with experience in wills and estates, real estate matters, and estate, employment and personal injury litigation. He earned a B.A. in Political Science and an LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario and was called to the bar in 1980. He practised with McFalls, Stevens and Sulman and later O'Brien, Jacklin, O'Brien & Sulman before joining Union Gas in 1985 to head its legal department, eventually becoming Vice-President; he also held senior roles at Mercap Insurance Ltd. of Bermuda and St. Clair Pipelines Ltd. He returned to private practice in 1996 as a senior partner at Parion Raphael, a 36-lawyer firm with offices in Toronto, Windsor, Chatham, Leamington and Tilbury, before incorporating his own practice in 2008. He has appeared before tribunals including the Ontario and National Energy Boards, the Assessment Appeal Board, the Ontario and Canadian Labour Boards, and all levels of provincial and federal courts. He has also been a longtime Chatham municipal councillor and community volunteer, and received the King Charles III Coronation Medal for public service in January 2025.
