About Douglas

Douglas Moores is a partner at Moores & Collins Lawyers. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Memorial University of Newfoundland (1968) and a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie Law School (1971). He was appointed King's Counsel in 1984 and appointed Master of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1997. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Atlantic Provinces Trial Lawyers Association, and a member and Bencher of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. His volunteer work includes chairing the Tall Ship Matthew's visit for the province's 500th anniversary celebrations, chairing the 1992 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games, chairing the Carbonear General Hospital Corporation, serving as a director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Symphony Orchestra, and serving on Memorial University's Board of Regents. His awards include the 1992 Canada 125 Centennial Medal, a 1993 Certificate of Merit from Fitness and Amateur Sport Canada, Memorial University's Eaton Society recognition (1996) and Alumnus of the Year (1998), the Canadian Bar Association's Award for Distinguished Public Service (2000), the Weldon Award for Unselfish Public Service from Dalhousie Law School (2000), and the Volunteer Medal of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador (2001).
