About Douglas

Douglas Paterson is the founder of Patersons LLP and has practised law in Brandon since the 1970s. He earned a B.A. from Brandon University in 1969 and an LL.B. from the University of Manitoba's Robson Hall in 1972, then served as counsel to Manitoba Public Insurance from 1973 to 1977 before opening his own practice. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1984 and named King's Counsel in 2022. His practice covers civil litigation, wills and estates, corporate law, and property transfers. He has held numerous community leadership roles in Brandon, including president of the Chamber of Commerce and of Big Brothers Brandon, a Brandon School Division trustee, and a Brandon city councillor for 12 years, including service as deputy mayor.
