About Donald

Donald J. Sorochan, QC has been a member of the Bar of British Columbia since 1972 and of the Yukon Bar, and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1990. He holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been listed in Best Lawyers in Canada and the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory. He has received the Gold Medal of the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law, the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch's George A. Goyer QC Memorial Award for Distinguished Service and Harry Rankin QC Pro Bono Award, and the Lexpert Zenith Award. He has appeared as counsel at every level of court in Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and has also represented clients, with local counsel, in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and Australia. His practice spans public law, including constitutional, administrative, and criminal law, as well as aviation law, construction law, and securities and financial institution litigation. He practised for 46 years with the same Vancouver law firm before establishing Sorochan Law, and has served as Commission Counsel in government commissions of inquiry.
