About David

David Varty was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1980. He began his career in civil litigation in Vancouver before serving as counsel with the federal Department of Justice and the Canadian Transport Commission in Ottawa. In 1984 he founded Varty & Company, where he continues to practise. Varty has written more than 40 publications on legal and public issues, including five books, and has taught at Continuing Legal Education programs and Simon Fraser University. He holds a Master of Laws from McGill University and is fluent in French and English.
