About Cheryl

Cheryl Lean opened her family law practice in Prince Edward County in 2004 after earlier careers as a photo-journalist, art gallery director and CBC broadcast journalist. She represents individuals and families in divorce, family law and Children's Aid Society matters, appearing in court for clients across Belleville, Quinte West, Prince Edward County and the surrounding Hastings and Northumberland region. Lean earned her LL.B. from Dalhousie University and an LL.M. from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1991. She served as a Bencher of the Law Society of Ontario from 2019 to 2023, sitting on its Competence Task Force and Technology Task Force, and acted as an adjudicator on the Law Society Tribunal's Hearing Division. Lean was a board member of the Hastings County Law Association and served as its president from 2007 to 2009.
