Cecil J. Lyon has practiced law since 1989, focusing on family law disputes with an emphasis on Appropriate Dispute Resolution, including mediation, Collaborative Family Law, arbitration, and principled negotiation. He has extensive trial and appellate experience, having appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada, the Immigration and Refugee Board, the Ontario Labour Relations Tribunal, and the Federal Court of Appeal. He is an Honoured Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution, a former columnist with the Lawyers Weekly, and a panel lawyer with the Collaborative Family Law Network. He is a Rostered Mediator with the Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program in Ottawa and a past President of the Dispute Resolution Centre for Ottawa-Carleton. He has taught mediation to judges and has lectured at the Bar Admission Course, the Faculty of Common Law at the University of Ottawa, and Queen's University's Faculty of Law.
