About Cassandra

Cassandra DeMelo founded DeMelo Heathcote in 2014 to ensure fair representation for people across London and Southwestern Ontario. She was born and raised in London and is fluent in Portuguese and conversational in Spanish. She earned her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) and her Juris Doctor from Western Law, articling with Lerners LLP before her call to the Ontario Bar in 2013. She holds a Master of Laws from Western University on mental health and bail hearings and is a PhD student at Western Law focusing on drug reform. She co-authored 'Law and Mental Health in Canada: Cases and Materials' for LexisNexis and is President of the London Criminal Lawyers' Association.
