About Carolyn

Carolyn R. Christiansen is the founder of FairView Family Law in Vernon, BC, where she practices exclusively in family law, including divorce, parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, division of family property and debt, separation agreements, and pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia, where in her final year she was awarded the Rosina and Gabriel Iacobucci Prize in Family Law and the Campney & Murphey Prize in Securities Regulation; she also completed paralegal qualifications at Capilano College and worked as a corporate, commercial, and securities law paralegal in Vancouver before law school. Called to the bar in 2002, she practiced with a boutique family law firm in Vancouver before relocating to Vernon in 2005 to join a local firm's family law department, and opened her own practice, FairView Family Law, in April 2012. Christiansen has completed training to become an accredited family law mediator and offers mediation services both in person and remotely, and she has been involved with the North Okanagan Community Life Society, the Vernon and District Performing Arts Society, and pro bono legal services through the MS Society of Canada and the legal clinic at People Place.
