Carol W. Hickman, Q.C. earned her law degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1987 and was called to the bar in British Columbia in 1988. She practised family law litigation in the Greater Vancouver area for over 25 years, appearing at all levels of court including the BC Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, in matters involving property division, maintenance, and custody and access. She began working as a mediator and collaborative family lawyer and in 2012 founded West Coast ADR Law Group to help separating couples resolve disputes outside the courtroom. In 2014 she completed a Master of Laws in ADR at Osgoode Hall Law School. Hickman was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2010, served as a Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia from 2004 to 2011, and is now a Life Bencher and chair of the Society's Family Law Task Force. She has taught at UBC and Thompson Rivers University law schools and been active with the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC.
