About Carmen
Carmen Baru joined the firm after practising for five years with a litigation firm in Ottawa, and has a bilingual practice in English and French. She holds a combined B.C.L./J.D. from McGill University, where she won the J.S.D. Tory Writing Award and the McGill Student Advocacy program's Director's Award, and served as a bilingual editor of the McGill Law Journal. Before law school she completed a B.A. at the University of Bucharest and a Master's and Ph.D. in comparative literature at Western University, where she received the Governor General's Gold Medal. Since 2019 she has co-taught the Business Law and Real Estate Law modules of the University of Ottawa's French-language Law Practice Program, and she volunteers with the Pro Bono Legal Help Ontario clinic at the Ottawa courthouse. She is a member of the Carleton County Law Association, the Renfrew County Law Association and the Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario.
