About Bruce
Bruce Karten practised criminal defence law for about 40 years, working across the Greater Toronto Area, Scarborough, and communities such as Niagara, Belleville, Trenton, Oshawa, Brampton and Newmarket. He received his BA from the University of Western Ontario in 1965 and his LLB there in 1968, then was called to the bar in 1970 and began his practice in the Trenton and Belleville area before relocating to the GTA fourteen years later. Bruce appeared at every level of Provincial Court in Ontario, as well as the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, and focused in part on sexual assault and historical sexual assault cases. From 1978 to 1980 he sat on the Legal Aid Area Committee for Hastings County, and he later volunteered as a Big Brother in Toronto and served on the board of the Hastings and Prince Edward County Children's Aid Society.
