About Ava
Ava Marion Hillier graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario bar in 1980, after earning a BA from Queen's University. She began her career in a general litigation practice covering real estate, commercial litigation, and criminal law alongside her mother Suzanne Hillier in Brampton before becoming a partner at Hillier and Hillier in 1987 and specializing in personal injury litigation. Her practice today is restricted to personal injury cases, including claims arising from denied disability applications, SABS claims, and professional negligence matters. She co-founded the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association in 1991 and has served as its Director and Vice-President for over seven years, receiving its Distinguished Service Award in 2004. She has appeared at every level of trial court in Ontario and at the Court of Appeal, and continues to lecture for organizations including the Canadian Bar Association and the Advocates' Society.
