Ecojustice is a Canadian environmental law charity, headquartered in Vancouver with additional offices in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, and Halifax. Its Toronto office, at 777 Bay Street, is one of five regional offices rather than the organization's head office. The charity began in 1990 as the Sierra Legal Defence Fund, founded as a direct response to the Exxon Valdez oil spill. In 2007 it took the name Ecojustice, a change made partly because Sierra Legal Defence Fund was often mistaken for an arm of the Sierra Club.
Ecojustice's lawyers go to court on behalf of citizens, environmental organizations, First Nations, sustainable businesses, and labour organizations, representing them free of charge at every level of court. The charity says it's 100 percent donor funded, supported by more than 19,000 individuals and organizations, and it declines donations from donors whose activities conflict with its mission or who might try to influence its strategic decisions. Its litigation covers climate change, endangered species protection, and environmental regulation, and its lawyers also push for stronger laws through expert testimony and public engagement.

Ecojustice's Toronto office, at 777 Bay Street, is a regional office rather than the charity's head office, which is in Vancouver. Of its five Canadian offices, only the Ottawa location has a distinct institutional home, operating inside the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law as a joint environmental law clinic. The Toronto office stands on its own as one of the charity's five regional locations.
