About ACE Legal

ACE Legal is a small family law practice with offices in downtown Vancouver and in Cranbrook, in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia. Founder Andrea E. Petersen worked for years in the life sciences before turning to law, holding a Bachelor of Science in pharmacology, doing post graduate cancer research, and then teaching as a tenured life science lecturer at Vancouver Community College. The move into law followed a family experience: an oldest child's learning disability, and gaps in what the public school system could offer in response, prompted a shift toward legal advocacy for families facing similar situations.

The practice today centers on family law, covering divorce, separation and prenuptial agreements, division of property, spousal and child support, and parenting disputes including parental alienation, along with will drafting. Andrea E. Petersen appears in both BC Provincial Court and BC Supreme Court, and also runs a narrower immigration practice limited to spousal sponsorship and refugee matters. Clients can retain the firm at an hourly rate of $395, through flat fees for services such as independent legal advice or an uncontested divorce (both billed plus tax), or through legal coaching aimed at people who want to represent themselves.
