About Cowley & Company

Cowley & Company is a personal injury and general practice firm based in Surrey, British Columbia, with additional offices in Burnaby and Abbotsford. Lee A. Cowley founded the firm in the fall of 2000, after an earlier career as a chiropractor. Cowley earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1978, then worked as a chiropractor and acupuncturist for fifteen years, including time in rural Ontario, before returning to school. That path led to a law degree from the University of Victoria in 1996, completed with the J.P. Lawson Academic Award, and a stint as a criminal prosecutor with the Provincial Crown before the firm's founding.

The firm practices ICBC and motor vehicle accident claims, personal injury and disability claims, family law, criminal law, wills and estates, civil litigation, property disputes, wrongful dismissal, and immigration. Most of its ICBC and personal injury files are handled on a contingency basis, so clients aren't billed upfront and fees are deducted from a settlement or award instead, and the firm offers free initial consultations. Stephen Ballard and Wai Cheung, who met as classmates at UBC's law school, became managing partners of the firm in 2017, and Raymon Pici joined as a partner in 2018.
